The 2022 Mandalika MotoGP is scheduled to be held from March 18-20, 2022.
The Ministry is eyeing to attract a total of 100 thousand visitors with mostly domestic tourists to the island where the FIM-approved race track is built on. However, the government is still tackling accommodation issues as Lombok only has 23 thousand units available.
“Lombok currently has 2,758 hotel rooms available that are predicted to reach 100 percent occupancy during the MotoGP event,” said Sandiaga on January 10.
Sandiaga said the Public Works and Housing Ministry (PUPR) had pledged to help provide more accommodation. The Tourism Ministry plans to open collaboration with private businesses such as Boboox and Eiger to provide temporary lodging such as camping grounds and camper vans.
