Stepping Up in the reopening push

Bali Hotels Association 11 June 2021

Bali's tourism awaits with bated breath for the official announcement of the province’s reopening, which the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has slated for July.

Despite an unknown date, all hands are involved in turning this dream to reality — putting safety and vaccinations at the top of the tourism reopening agenda.

To date, 119 (almost 76%) of the 157 Bali Hotels Association (BHA) member hotels and resorts have received the Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment (CHSE) certification from the central government.

According to BHA chairperson Jean Heliere, who is also general manager of Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, more than 90,000 tourism workers have signed up for the first vaccination batch. As well, 25 BHA member hotels and resorts volunteered as vaccination sites and provided their facilities and human resources.

BHA has also rolled out the #SleeveUp and #MaskOn social media campaigns in support of the vaccination drive, health protocols, and the reopening of the three designated green zones: Sanur, Nusa Dua and Ubud.

Almost 100% of those in Bali's three designated green zones had received their first vaccine dose by early April.

As of 6 June, more than 47% of Bali's targeted 3 million have received the first dose, and 22% have received the second. The province still requires 3.3 million doses to achieve its target of vaccinating 70% of the island’s population of three million by end-June.

On top of ongoing training and educational webinars for its members, the BHA regularly provides the tourism and creative economy ministry with data from its member surveys, as well as the central bank.
