Bali Hotels Association and Fivelements Retreat Bali  Retreat were excited to welcome 32 BHA member hotels to the sustainability training course titled “Understanding and Calculating Your Hotels Carbon Footprint”.

The attendees were treated to an in-depth training by Arthur Chosani, Fivelements Retreat's Financial Controller & Head of Sustainability, and a tour of Fivelements Retreat, walking through the 4300 SQM of gardens and exploring the award-winning buildings and eco-philosophy.

As Indonesia moves towards gradually implementing new rules in 2025 or 2026, every hotel faces the same climate challenges that greatly impact our food sources and tourism. Human greenhouse gas emissions are heating our atmosphere and warming the climate. We are already approaching an average global warming of 1.5 degrees Celsius, which could devastate ecological and social systems.

With the strong demand for knowledge in the eco and green space, it was wonderful to see a full house, with many members sending "green" teams to attend the course. As part of the Bali Hotels Association's education and sustainability mission, a second course is planned soon so stay tuned.
