On September 21, 2019, 157 members and 5113 participants of the Bali Hotels Association will join in the International Coastal Cleanup Day, a program initiated by a non-profit organization, Ocean Conservancy, 30 years ago. Now with more than 6 million volunteers in over 90 countries, involving the local community, schools, and businesses, the cleanup will take place in 16 different regions in Bali including Berawa, Echo beach, Padang Padang Beach, Kuta Beach, Mengiat Beach, Werdha Pura Beach, Mesari Beach, Petitenget beach, Gangga Beach, Pura Dalem Tengkulung, German Beach, Petanu River, Lebih Beach, Lepang Beach, Buitan Beach, Lovina Beach and Lembongan Beach.
“This initiative is just one of the many efforts to educate our members and their employees on the importance of preserving the environment – especially the ocean” explained Patricia Ghamami, Director of Environment for Bali Hotels Association. “At the moment, BHA is the only representative in Bali that has participated in the initiative annually since 2013, and Bali has become a part of the global community of the Ocean Conservancy volunteers.”
