The Indonesian government has just announced that it has decided to ban tourists coming from some areas from Iran, Italy and South Korea from entering Indonesia from March 8th, 2020. The Ban applies for transit passengers from these countries.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the banned areas include Qom City, Tehran, and Gilan Province in Iran; the regions of Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, and Piedmont in Italy; and Daegu region and Gyeongsang Province. Residents in cities other than those mentioned above are still allowed to enter Indonesia but must have a healthy certificate.
The prohibition of entry and transit to Indonesia for migrants or travelers who in the last 14 days traveled in these areas," said Retno in a press conference at his office on Thursday (5/3).
Retno was quoted as saying “that all migrants and tourists from these three countries needed a health certificate issued by the health authorities in each country to be able to enter or transit in Indonesia. The health certificate must be valid and must be presented to the airline at check-in. Migrants are also required to fill out a health warning form prepared by the Indonesian Ministry of Health before landing in Indonesia. The card contained questions about travel history.
"Without a health certificate from the competent authority, the migrants and travelers will be refused entry or transit in Indonesia and that all Indonesian citizens traveling from the three countries would still be allowed to enter on condition that an additional medical check-up is performed at the arrival airport." "This policy is temporary and adjusted according to developments," said Retno.
