Bali Hotels dispute media reports of many cancellations
Bali Hotels Association disputes the media reports of many cancellations!
A recent survey of 157 member hotels in Bali reveled the reality that people are not cancelling their trips to Bali.
The Australian media claims that people were cancelling due to the reported draft of the “bonking bill” were unfounded.
Unfortunately due to bad timing with the "bonking ban" reports, some hotels did experience some cancellations of approximately 6%. The survey results also concluded that this could be due to the other factors such the bankruptcy of one of Europe's biggest tour operators as well as an Online Travel Agent that closed down and bookings cancelled.
Bali Hotels Association remains committed to sharing the message that it's business as unsual and that visitors should continue to visit the island.
The initial Bali Government statement released 23 September 2019 remains unchanged:
1. The recommendation of the full regulation, including what is commonly mentioned as the "Adultery Act" is still a recommendation and has not yet formally issued and cannot be enforced.
2. Based on various feedback, the President of The Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Parliament have agreed to indefinitely postpone the passing of the bill with those new regulations.
3. Bali Government office encourages all parties involved in tourism (i.e., persons visiting or planning to visit, as well as industry stakeholders) to stay calm and continue their activities (or planned activities) as usual.
Bali Hotels Association will contine to monitor the issue and will update its members and partners if there is any further information in regards to this matter.
