Bali Hotels Association Corporate Social Responsibility Program Report 2017

Bali Hotels Association 02 February 2018

JANUARY 2018, Denpasar – Bali. Since 2008, Bali Hotels Association (BHA) has brought together star-rated hotels, restaurants and resorts across the island of Bali. Members include more than 100 hospitality businesses, representing over 15,000 hotel rooms and almost 30,000 employees in the tourism sector.

The professional association has become instrumental in supporting the promotion of Bali’s travel and tourism industry while driving community initiatives and supporting education and environmental issues.

2017 was an exceptional year for BHA whose successful Corporate Social Responsibility programs led to spearheading best practices, raising awareness of important issues, and making a significant impact on the community and on many lives.

Such programs included:

·         Helping over 840 children through visits to orphanages in Bangli, Klungkung, Negara and Singaraja. BHA donations included rice, sembako, pillows, bed linen, towels, hygiene and bathroom amenities, as well as school items.

·         Through BHA’s affiliation with Red Cross, 12 Blood Drives took place each month at member’s hotels, resulting in the collection of over 734 blood bags.

·         BHA worked together with DNetwork to find employment for persons with disabilities, complying with the Government regulation of 1 PWD per 100 employees.

·         During Mount Agung BHA played an important role in supplying donations of pillows, duvets, towels and bed linen to Evacuation Centers.

Caring for the community also lead to the introduction of an animal welfare initiative. In conjunction with Bali Jet Set Petz Vaccination and Sterilization program for dogs and cats, a total of 602 animals were carefully treated in 2017. This program was also adopted by AYANA Resort and Spa, BALI who introduced their “Paws for Thought” campaign to the Jimbaran area. On 27 November 2017, the program resulted in 45 dogs vaccinated and 37 dogs sterilized.

We are thrilled to have accomplished so much in 2017, such significant achievements could not have been made without the dedication and support from each member of Bali Hotels Association,” said Virginie Tutin Sandstrom, BHA Director of Community Relations and General Manager of Harris Riverview Kuta. “We commit to building on this year’s success and aim for greater results in 2018. We believe in our community and will continue to demonstrate how BHA cares for Bali - the true Island of the Gods!”
