Sustainability Champions workgroup

Sustainability Champions workgroup formed by participants in member hotels to drive initiatives and awareness in member hotels and local community. Regular meetings for prioritization, organization and action.
BHA supports the request from Bali Tourism Authority (Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Bali) urging all member hotels to adopt the use of tumblers or single reusable bottles as part of the effort to reduce plastic waste.
This initiative aligns with Bali Governor Regulation No. 97 of 2018 on Limiting the Generation of Single-Use Plastic Waste and supports the vision of fostering high-quality, sustainable tourism in Bali.
BHA will continue increasing the knowledge and actions to protect the planet and improve all aspects of sustainability in Bali.
A key mission and hope will be to sign up BHA to the United Nations Environment Program Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, which seeks to address plastic pollution within the tourism industry. The PTPI seeks the following:
- Eliminating problematic and/or unnecessary plastics.
- Transitioning to reuse models or reusable alternatives.
- Engaging the supply chain to make all plastic packaging reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
- Increasing the use of recycled plastic content.
- Collaborating and investing to improve recycling and composting rates
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN are linked directly to these and are part of Indonesia's overall objectives for 2030 and beyond. The challenge is that Indonesia is currently ranked 78th out of 166 countries, but we can all help improve if we, as a group, take action and involve our key stakeholders in the process.
