Contrary to the news conveyed in certain media outlets, we would like to emphasize that Bali's borders are open, and the visa on arrival services are operating as usual. The Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights issued a decree, M.HH-01.GR.01.07 Year 2023, which primarily revised a previous decree from 2016. It is important to note that the visa-free facility was discontinued during the Covid-19 pandemic. When the borders reopened in 2022, there was a return to the paid visa on arrival, which has now been ratified under the latest decree.

Additionally, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy issued a statement affirming that the visa on arrival (VoA) aims to accommodate over 80 percent of tourists, while the remaining visitors can utilize the e-visa option. The contribution from more than 150 countries towards visits is observed to be relatively low, prompting a review of the current system. Consequently, some tourists will enter using VoA, while others will be facilitated through the electronic Visa (e-Visa) program.

It is important to note that in 2016, citizens of 176 countries (including ASEAN) were allowed to stay in Indonesia without a visa for 30 days based on the Presidential Decree of 21 of 2016, dated 2 March 2016, on Visa Free. This decree replaced Presidential Regulation Number 104/2015 on Amendments to Presidential Regulation Number 69/2015 on Visa Free.

The webpage outlines the entry and exit requirements, as well as the visa entry requirements for Bali. It provides details on the 10 countries eligible for visa exemption and the 92 countries that have access to the Visa on Arrival or E Visa Online facilities.

We hope this clarification will help dispel any confusion regarding Bali's border status and visa services. We encourage all interested individuals to visit the official website mentioned above for accurate and up-to-date information.
