EVERYTHING THAT IS GIVEN THROWN BACK @ BETELNUT - Kadek Arka Dwipayana is an experimental and diverse visual artist from Karangasem, Bali, Indonesia. A graduate of the Indonesian Institute for the Arts, Denpasar (2011), Dwipayana's works include paintings, installations, mixed media pieces, and performance art. His creations are suggestive of the action painting movement, a successor of abstract expressionism: The artist's gestures and brushstrokes are captured in a process of accumulative creation and partial destruction. Almost entirely independent of intentional intervention, figurations, actions, and fusions of hues materialize through the layers; open to a myriad of interpretations and defying conclusive definition.
